An eye lift fixes overhanging eyelids and gives a fresh and young appearance. The skin of the eyelid becomes less elastic over time which causes the eyelids to sag. When your eyelids feel heavy, a tired look will make you look older than you really are. Overhanging eyelids can eventually reduce your vision and cause headaches. Through genetic factors, such as the shape of the eye socket, young people can experience this as well. An upper eyelid correction helps take care of this problem. It’s a small and simple procedure with a large effect, a quick recovery and long lasting results.
Origination sagging eyelids
Sagging eyelids usually happen to men and women over 40. That happens because as you age, the thin skin around the eyes loses her elasticity. Besides that, the binding tissue becomes weaker meaning the protective fat tissue around our eyes sags and will visibly bulge. That causes extra tension on the skin and accelerates the sagging of the eyelids.
Aesthetic and functional
Sagging eyelids cause several problems. The eyelids feel heavy, putting on make-up is difficult and you look tired, even when you’re well rested. After some time it’ll take more and more effort to keep your eyes open. You can get problems with reading, vision can be reduced and headache complaints may arise. With an upper eyelid correction you can fix these problems.
Results eye lift
An eyelid correction gives a fresher and more open look and makes the natural shape of the eyes visible again. The tired look has gone and been replaced by a well rested appearance and you’ll look younger. During the checkup a few months after the procedure people will often say how many compliments they’ve had about how good they look. Relieved that the procedure has been so easy, patients often say, “I should have done this much sooner!”
Because of the great results, the eyelid correction is one of the most done procedures worldwide.
How long does the result stay visible?
A well done upper eyelid correction will give you years of enjoyment. You’ll look younger after the procedure, but the natural aging process will continue as usual. To keep a fresh and open look it may sometimes be necessary to do another upper eyelid correction after around 15 years. Correcting sagging eyelids on time does delay the sagging of the skin in the long term. By removing the excess skin and fat the eyelids won’t be as affected by gravity.
Personal consultation
During your consultation you’ll discuss with plastic surgeon Kazem whether the eyelift is the best treatment for you. He’ll check the amount of sagging in your eyelids and will tell you what to expect from the results. In rare cases the cause of the hanging eyelids is caused by sagging eyebrows and an eyebrow lift may be a better option. Doctor Kazem will tell you about the anesthesia, the recovery, the aftercare and the risks involved. He’ll take extensive time to answer any of your questions. Make an appointment for a consultation.
Eyelift, the procedure
An eyelid correction, also called blepharoplasty, is a small surgical procedure. Generally the procedure takes place under local anesthesia and takes around 45 to 60 minutes. Excess skin and excess fat tissue are removed and sometimes it’s necessary to correct weakened muscles. Where necessary the weakened binding tissue is restored as well, which helps keep the fat in the right place. After that the capillaries are seared shut and the skin is stitched with soluble stitches.

After the surgery
Immediately after the surgery cooling is used, by using for example ice goggles, to reduce the swelling and bruising. After pain rarely happens. Ibuprofen is often enough in case it does happen. About an hour after the procedure you can go home again. Rest and regular cooling of the eyes help a speedy recovery. The first days after the procedure you will look less presentable, but you can start light daily activities again. For a speedy recovery it’s not recommended to do heavy physical activities such as intense workouts and lifting for the first few weeks after the procedure.
Scars eyelid correction
The recovery period is nearly painless. After around 5 days the stitches can be removed.
The cut follows the natural contours of the eyelid and is made precisely in the fold of the eyelid. Because of that the scar will not be visible later on. For a speedy recovery you can use special scar cream.
Aftercare Kazem in the long term
Good aftercare is important to us at Kazem Aesthetica, immediately after the procedure and in the long term.
The first checkup is a week after the surgery. If you have any questions or complaints in the meantime then Kazem Aesthetica can be reached 24 hours per day. The second checkup happens about 3 months later, at that point the definitive results should be visible and the scars should have disappeared almost entirely.
Risks and complications
An eyelid correction is a relatively simple procedure. The risk of complication is small when the procedure is done by an expert plastic surgeon (or ophthalmologist surgeon) that has a lot of experience with the procedure. A good plastic surgeon has the expertise and anatomical knowledge to give you a fresh and open look without changing the natural shape of your eyes. With every procedure however, there is a small chance of complications such as wound infections or after bleeding, plastic surgeon Kazem will inform you about the risks during the consultation.
When does insurance pay for an eyelid correction?
The terms for your insurance to cover an eyelid correction are extremely stringent. The eyelid correction cannot be cosmetic but has to be done to correct severe sight impairment. A correction of the under eyelid and bags under the eyes is always cosmetic and will never be reimbursed.

Is it possible to set up a payment plan for this treatment?
You can request a payment plan with Finally Finance. This is a financing company that Kazem Aesthetica works with.
